Criminal Defense Attorney Reacts to R. Kelly Case Getting Dismissed
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced that her office would no longer be prosecuting R. Kelly, and today they moved to dismiss the case.
R. Kelly had been indicted regarding aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four alleged victims. Three of these victims were alleged to be under the age of consent. This led to the filing of ten charges against him.
Normally this is something to be celebrated. It’s generally good news for someone to learn their case is being dismissed. However, last year R. Kelly was convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering in federal court in New York, and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Last September, R. Kelly had another federal trial in Chicago, where he was found guilty of three counts of coercing minors into sexual activity and three counts of producing sex tapes involving a minor. He’s going to be sentenced on that case in late February. He’s facing a minimum of 10 to 90 years in prison.
Cook County prosecutors are banking on the idea that R. Kelly is never getting out of prison, and therefore, have made the decision not to spend further time and resources on his case. Thus, it may not be as big of a victory as it seems.

It’s usually a good thing when the prosecutors dismiss your case, but is it such a big victory here? Probably not if you’re going to spend the rest of your life in prison anyway. But who knows, perhaps R. Kelly will be successful on appeal. We’ll see.
All the corruption with both cases. For you 2 be a Defense Lawyer,one would think they had done their research/homework. Read the transcripts for BOTH cases. Criminals got immunity. Everyone got immunity. Gifts were given 2 females so they would test ta lie…yeah test ta lie…One Lawyer said those females WERE of AGE when meeting him so what they hadc2 do was change the narrative 2 make yall believe those lie. R Kelly is going to WIN his appeals! Everyone knows that’s not R Kelly on those tapes. The tapes were never authenticated and plus they were tampered with by federal prosecutors who added voices to tapes that had no audio. The NY case is trash and there was never enough evidence to substantiate a RICO charge. A one man RICO case is unheard of and will be overturned on appeal. At this point any woman can say R Kelly did something to her and he’ll be charged based upon lies. R Kelly will be home soon and he will get his MASTERS from SONY. All this is about his MASTERS which value over $1 billion. Y’all some idiots if you believe it’s about those women who were used by the government. Since when did the government give a damn about Black women? The same government enslaved and profited from Black women during slavery. The discussions started the day the Feds got that guilty verdict. I can not imagine the number of people waiting for the State to indict on a case in Cook County; courts are stretched.
